Research shows the SI joints to be implicated in over 90% of low back pain. But many patients also have lumbar pain too.

JUST WHERE IS THE PAIN COMING FROM? ....... DISC?............ MUSCLE?....... JOINT CAPSULE?.......... LIGAMENT?.

ACUTE LOW BACK PAIN: Whether from trauma, a sudden movement, or just idiopathic sudden onset, low back pain is not just disabling and worrying for the patient, it puts the clinician "on the spot". Sudden severe pain can arise from a number of sources , but its not always easy to say which. Whatever your diagnosis & treatment, the SEROLA SI belt gives immediate welcome relief to most patients.
Just like we give a support for a sprain/strain injury to a knee, neck or ankle; the SEROLA SI belt gives a welcome degree of relief for the patient in severe pain. Serola SI belts are even used as trauma stabilisers in emergency wards.

Some patients can`t or won`t take time off. The Serola Belt gives a degree of protection whatever your advice.

During treatment and recovery, the belt acts as an extra hand, rather like this sufferer. Again, where do back sufferers usually support with their hand?
Over the SI JOINT
Most acute low back pain is unilateral or predominantly one sided. Recent research shows the SI joints and the major supporting muscles are involved in more than 90% of acute low back pain.

CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN:

In a car , if the tracking is "out" the tyres wear unevenly, eventually leading to a blow-out. In the spine, misalignment in the weight bearing joints of the spine and pelvis results in uneven wear in the facet joints and discs, and assymetric loading of the paraspinal and pelvic girdle musculature.

With a car the cause may be an impact, e.g. hitting the curb, but in most cases its just everyday wear and tear. With the spine there are also many causes, however on thing is clear: this is a common finding. Unless this imbalance is recognised and corrected, long term problems may be expected.

During treatment, the Serola SI Belt helps "hold" your corrective work whilst giving the patient welcome support. Without that support, patients may well drift away from treatment as their pain returns.

DJD: When the amount of wear exceeds the body`s ability to repair, degereration (DJD) takes place. Inflammation in the joints and discs leads to protective muscle splinting. Trigger points in these muscles combine with the joint pain to produce the familiar complex of pain. Much of the "sciatica" that is reported is due to referred pain from these muscles, particularly the gluteals and piriformis.

Importantly, pelvic misalignment can result in rotational stress of the lumbar discs. One set of diagonal annular fibres tighten whilst the other set slacken. With time, the resultant strain is a potent contributor to disc degeneration.

Take the SEROLA TEST

Prove the point in a moment. Test any pelvic muscle, then re-test wearing the SEROLA Belt. An immediate strengthening will be found. By helping support the joint, the belt allows the muscle more dynamic strength. Thus by wearing the belt, the muscles are released from their constant contraction. Combined with your treatment to realign & restore structural balance remarkable results can be achieved.
